Ice Cream Social Floral Decor DIY

I love ice cream, and I love flowers, and I love parties. So how to combine all of those things? An ice cream social with adorable themed floral decor of course! I was recently on the local news morning show, Better Kansas City, and they wanted me to create some non-traditional floral projects that didn't require a vase. I came up with the apple vase DIY I shared last week, these ice cream cones, and a few others, and I wanted to share the how to's over here on the blog. This little DIY is so incredibly simple (pretty much no floral skill required), but it's so cute and makes a fun decorative statement.

Here's what you'll need:

Flowers of course!

  • Waffle cones (purchased at the grocery store)

  • Floral sheers or kitchen scissors

  • Water tubes or picks.

Take your flowers and cut some of the stems short, about 3 or 4 inches, so they'll fit nicely inside your water picks. Next insert your stems. For skinnier stems you can get a few in each pick, but some will only fit one.

Take your finished picks and arrange them in your ice cream cones. Combine different textures, and colors. I was only able to fit three tubes into each of my cones, buy play around, and see what works best for the ones you purchase.

And that's it. I told you it was super simple. This is such a fun DIY because it's perfect for kids parties, and you can also customize it in any colors you want to match your decor. Now go eat some ice cream for goodness sake (before summer is over).
